Otafuku: One of the World's Largest Tokoname-Style Maneki-Neko
The Maneki-Neko is one of Japan's most iconic lucky charms. It is said that with a charming little raised paw, they beckon happiness our way.
In fact, Tokoname City and the Maneki-Neko share a deep connection. Leveraging the traditional ceramic techniques of Tokoname ware honed over generations, countless Maneki-Neko have been crafted right here before journeying across Japan and around the globe.
Standing at an impressive 6.5 meters tall, this Tokoname-style Maneki-Neko is one of the largest in the world. It was named 'Otafuku' (written with characters meaning 'much good fortune') in the hope that it will bring great luck and happiness to everyone who visits.
